This is an exciting unit of study. Almost everyday new discoveries are made within the field of Genetic. We will begin with the basics of Genetics and work our way through the unit to more complex studies ending with fruit fly lab

After learning to extract DNA from items. We would be able to place the DNA into a Gel-Electrophoresis to check for things such as paternity and/or who may have been at a crime scene.

After our basic study of DNA it is now time to conduct some basic labs in which we can not extract DNA. This is commonly used in Forensic Science. After learning to extract DNA our next step would be to isolate any contaminantes and the perform PRC.
